YouTube's monetization program allows creators to earn advertising revenue share on videos once they meet eligibility thresholds (500 subscribers and 3,000 watch hours or 3M Shorts views). Vertical video (Shorts) has its own monetization pool.
YouTube represents a meaningful parallel monetization channel for vertical drama content, particularly for trailers, clip compilations, and behind-the-scenes content that drives platform discovery.
Vertical creators distributing trailers, clips, or episodic content on YouTube can earn advertising revenue alongside or independent of platform licensing income; YouTube Shorts monetization is natively relevant to the portrait format.
